Share calendar with Jira users

Event Calendar for Jira is by default built in a way that shows you only the calendars/events that you create. Or in other words just like any other calendar service.

It might happen, that you want to have:

  • a team calendar for a project (multiple people)
  • share your calendar for a colleague
  • …etc

In order to accomplish the examples above, you need to explicitly allow permissions to other people, so as they are able to see the calendar that you created.

The same applies in the case of other people’s calendars. If your colleagues want you to see their calendar, they need to grant you a permission to see it.

In this tutorial you’ll learn, how to make a calendar visible to other people in Jira.

Tutorial

1. Open up a list of calendars

The first step is to find the calendar you want to share. You can do it by clicking Apps -> Calendar from within the top navigation menu.

Then you should see a list of your available calendars on the right.

2. Find your calendar to share

Once you get to the list of the calendars, find a calendar you want to share and click a “three dot icon” on the right.

After that a list of options shows up where you’ll find the one called “Share access“.

3. Pick colleagues to share the calendar with

Once you click the menu option “Share access” a dialog window shows up.

Within the dialog window there you can see just one field. Within this field you can find colleagues that you would like to share the calendar with.

Simply find names of your colleagues and click save.

4. Set permissions

Once you grant permissions to your colleagues to the Calendar, you can set additional permissions that will allow your colleagues not only to see the calendar and overview the already created events, but it will give them permissions to also create/edit/delete events that have been created.

That’s it

And that’s it. Now your colleagues should have access to your calendar.

Wrapping up

In this tutorial you learnt, how to share access to your calendar.
