Deleting a label from Jira is done by simply removing it from all of the work items where it has been used. You can do it manually, which can get tedious, or use an additional plugin which can do it for you.
Label Management for Jira offers you a quick way how to delete a label from the work items.

1. Open Label Management for Jira
In Jira sidebar on the left within the “Apps” section find “Label Management“.

2. Select labels from the list
Within the list of label pick one or more labels and then click “Delete” button.

A confirmation window will appear, click “Confirm and delete“.

4. That’s it
Once you confirm the process starts automatically. You can watch the progress of the process on the screen. You can refresh the list of currently running tasks by clicking the “Refresh tasks” button.
