In Global Kanban Board for Jira it is not only possible to display work from various projects, while also filtering by additional criteria (fields), but also there is a way to group the work by various columns (not just Status).
You can group the work by the following:
- an assignee (including unassigned)
- a due date
- a priority
- a general status category (todo, in progress or done)
- a specific status (e.g. if you’ve added custom statuses)
To start using the grouping functionality, use the “Group by” button on the right (shown on the screenshot below).

Group by an assignee
You can group the work by assignee, including an Unassigned column. From the available options in the “Group by” list, select the “Assignee” option.

Group by a due date
Grouping the work by a due date splits the screen into following columns:
- work without a due date
- work overdue by more than 7 days
- work overdue for less than 7 days
- work not completed by yesterday
- work still not completed by the current day
- tomorrows’s work
- work planned for next 7 days
- work planned for more than 7 days

Group by a priority
You can group the work by priority set on individual work items. The available columns are as follows:
- lowest
- low
- medium
- high
- highest
- critical (not available in all workspaces)

Group by a status category
Grouping by a status category means to display only the basic Jira columns, in particular:
- Todo
- In progress
- Done
It means that if you have added custom statuses (e.g. In Development, Coding, In review, Testing, QA Verification, Code review, Verified, Released…etc) those would not be shown – but instead all the work items from category In progress (e.g. In Development, Coding, In review…) would be shown in the column In progress.

Group by a status
To group by a status, is different from grouping by a status category in that it groups by actual status which was set to particular work item.
It means that if your project actually contains statuses, like for example In Development, Coding, In review, Testing, QA Verification, Code review, Verified, Released…etc… you’re going to actually see such columns on the board (which is very similar approach to how the default view of Jira’s project board work).
